HDMI 2.0 Kompatibilitätstests abgeschlossen
Das HDMI Forum stellt die Compliance Text Specification (CTS) für HDMI Version 2.0 fertig und gibt diese frei. Mit CTS 2.0 kann man feststellen, ob Geräte mit einem HDMI-Anschluss mit der Version 2.0 des Standards kompatibel sind.
In zwölf Testzentren aus sieben verschiedenen Ländern (China, Frankreich, Indien, Japan, Korea, Taiwan und USA) können Hersteller von Produkten mit HDMI-Anschluss ihre Geräte auf HDMI 2.0 Kompatibilität prüfen lassen.

Die wichtigsten Neuerungen der HDMI Spezifikation 2.0 (welche im September 2013 eingeführt wurde) sind eine erhöhte Bandbreite von bis zu 18GB/s, eine 4K-Auflösung (2160p) bei 50 bzw. 60 Bildern pro Sekunde (FPS) und bis zu 32 Audiokanäle. Außerdem ist HDMI 2.0 Abwärtskompatibilität (konkret zu HDMI 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 und 1.4).
HDMI 2.0 löst somit den alten Standard HDMI 1.4a vom März 2010 ab. Wann Geräte mit dem neuen Standard verfügbar sein werden, bleibt jedoch weiterhin unbekannt.
